I was holding out for getting a few bookings last weekend for the glamping site, but we didn't get many. We looked at the weather and noticed it was going to be sunny all weekend and so we text a few friends to see if they fancied coming along with us - and they did! Last minute - off we went. We hadn't ever stayed as a family in the Shepherd's Lodge before and wanted to try it out... it didn't disappoint us!

Our boys (age 5 and 3) loved it! Our friends also had a couple of boys each and so they all played together a lot. We took a couple of football goals and they spent ages running around either playing football or on the play area. One of the families brought some pens and paper and they quite enjoyed sitting under the undercover eating area and doing a few card games or colouring.

We booked the swimming pool at 9am on both mornings, which worked really well. We got the pool to ourselves and it was a lovely way to fully start the day. We planned to go to the beach straight afterwards but the boys were enjoying running around so much that we didn't get to the beach until about 12:30/1pm. We got some takeaway food from Whitewater which was tasty. The boys got in wetsuits and played with body boards that we got from Glide Surf and had fun playing in the sea. We got some mandatory, but delicious ice-cream from the shop on the prom - I went for gooseberry flavour which was really tasty!

After a few hours on the beach, we headed back to the glamping site and all jumped in the hot tub. The children particularly loved this. We then headed to Sundown for pizza and tapas. The lovely thing about Sundown is that the children were able to play on the massive grass area just outside it while we ate food - a win for everyone. Some of the boys finished the day with a few toasted marshmallows over the fire. I decided to walk a couple of minutes through the woods to see the sunset, which didn't fail to finish an amazing day. No screens, free entertainment, outside the whole time. What a day!

In the evening, we all sat around the fire and chatted while the children were sleeping.
